Cara McClure
Through Cara’s personal philosophy of prayer, people, protest, policy, and polls, she helps the marginalized build possibilities for a better life.
The youngest of six siblings and the mother of one terrific son, Cara McClure was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama in the great community of Powderly. Cara’s second home was the church, where she first learned the importance of prayer, people. Cara and her family were very involved with the church, having 3 brothers as pastors. My parents are proud to say, “all of our children are Christians and live by the values taught in our home”,
From a young age, Cara followed her passions and entrepreneurial spirit. These qualities were instilled in her by her parents and family. While in elementary school, she worked for the family’s cleaning service, where she made cold calls to apartment complexes and small businesses.
This early exposure to business shaped McClure and inspired her to seek opportunities for personal development. In 2002, she moved into network marketing, building a team of more than 2000 brand new entrepreneurs across the United States and Canada.
After a family separation, McClure turned personal hardship into opportunity when she started an apartment locating service to help individuals and families find their ideal homes .
As time went on, McClure became more persistent in fighting for those in need. She realized that political activism through grassroots organizing was the way to create the change that she wanted to see in the world. Through her personal philosophy of prayer, people, protest, policy, and polls, she helps the marginalized build possibilities for a better life. McClure has been active with a number of social justice organizations including, but not limited to Stand as One Alabama, Faith in Action, Fight for Fifteen and a Union, and The Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for A Moral Revival, just to name a few.
McClure understands the importance of voter engagement, and holds voter registration and voter restoration events across the city. She believes your vote is your voice. Throughout her career, McClure has been a voice and advocate for the working poor, the homeless, and the forgotten and marginalized.
